|Voices of the village|
Showcasing our latest creations and fine arts from the artistic minds and hands of Civitan Village.
Almost there! We are so excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our finish date is next Wednesday, Dec 7. Orange Tree management is very happy with the results.
We are flowing down the home stretch on our first mural commission. Orange Tree management and their guests are thrilled with the mural and our progress. We are actually further along than I thought we would be as this point. Everyday I feel more proud and privileged to be my special art team's mentor and art teacher. Their fearlessness never ceases to amaze me. As the guests walk by and stop to talk to them, they tell our story in such a way that the passers by become moved and frozen in their tracts paying attention to every word. One lady cried and headed back to the office to tell management how moved and impressed she was with our members and their story. Orange Tree management made a point to tell us.

The Civitan Fine Art Group is well into the great wall mural for Orange Tree Resort. We are working on phase one which is 9' high and 17' wide. The procedure is adapted and continually being adjusted to the particular disability of each artist. Some are able to work from the scaffolding, some can paint while sitting on a walker, and some are able to sit on a pillow on the ground to paint the lower section.
Painting outdoors, in such a heroic size, is a first experience for everyone in our Fine Art Group. Getting the images on the wall was the first challenge and the most daunting. We ended up tracing it on the wall with carbon paper, then going over the lines with giant sharpies. Once that was done we all relaxed and joyfully went about the process of painting it.
Each artist has become empowered as they succeed at creating such a huge project. The resort guests come by constantly and are all amazed. We invite you to come by and see for yourself the wonder of this project being done by special artists with special needs.
The Civitan Artists were busy Sunday showing their artwork at the Shemer Art Center and Museum. Anthony, one of Civitan's extremely talented painters, had numerous pieces up displaying his creativity and love for bright colors and landscapes.
We are currently working on two new series at the Village, we are happy to create any series that may be requested by our clients. As a matter of fact we encourage such requests because it keeps us stretching and growing while meeting the needs of our patrons.
One of our favorite series to work on is our western series which includes western paintings, Indian design paintings, painted vases and boot jacks, among other things. The western creations go to our store in Williams. We are happy to take custom orders from our studio in Flerish for any of our western products.
Once we develop an appealing subject matter, we enjoy doing a series of paintings of that subject. Our Italian series is especially fun because we are including paintings of wine bottles and glasses as well as landscapes and Italian scenes. As you can see there is no shortage of talent here!
