The Civitan Fine Art Group is well into the great wall mural for Orange Tree Resort. We are working on phase one which is 9' high and 17' wide. The procedure is adapted and continually being adjusted to the particular disability of each artist. Some are able to work from the scaffolding, some can paint while sitting on a walker, and some are able to sit on a pillow on the ground to paint the lower section.
Painting outdoors, in such a heroic size, is a first experience for everyone in our Fine Art Group. Getting the images on the wall was the first challenge and the most daunting. We ended up tracing it on the wall with carbon paper, then going over the lines with giant sharpies. Once that was done we all relaxed and joyfully went about the process of painting it.
Each artist has become empowered as they succeed at creating such a huge project. The resort guests come by constantly and are all amazed. We invite you to come by and see for yourself the wonder of this project being done by special artists with special needs.
